Yet another religious leader being a bigot. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-17249099  A Catholic cardinal saying that gay marriage would be a "grotesque subversion of a universally accepted human right". Seriously, dude? Marriage *isn't* a universally accepted human right, and that's the friggin' problem!

These people all seem interchangeable - there have been several reports of assholes speaking out like this over the last few weeks, and they're all high up in some religion or other. Create whatever rules you want to in your in-group, but leave the rest of the country out of it - we're in the 21st century, here, and don't need you imposing your obnoxiousness on us. I'm pretty disgusted as it is that it's taken this long to achieve this measure of equality, and who knows when we're going to get real equality in this country, but at least this would be another tiny step.

p.s. can't you just stick to the 'love your neighbour' part and the 'treat others nicely' part? I *like* those parts!

Hmm ... so, then, to translate, he believes that gays are not human.

Other than that reprehensible sentiment being the underlying foundation, I can see nothing else that could in any way, shape, or form contribute to such a grossly illogical statement making any rational sense at all. Either he believes gays are not human, or he is in fact utterly completely and irretrievably irrational.

And in either case, I find it utterly and completely scary as hell that such obviously batshit and morally reprehensible people are in positions of power.
