That's it.I don't trust this machine further than I can throw it. Time for a new laptop. Shopping tomorrow, assuming John Lewis is open. Must write down my requirements list, and I just hope that I can make the software I need work on Vista. *sigh*

I don't know about the UK, but in the US, a number of computer companies are still selling new equipment with XP on it -- legally, and with Microsoft's blessing -- for another month or two. It might be worth investigating. One of our IT guys says he finally got Vista working on a new PC, but it took weeks. I think it will probably be a fine OS...once they finish it.
