Defrag finished
May. 10th, 2009 11:28 amIt finished overnight, no idea when, but it was done by the time I got downstairs about 9ish. What was worrying was that the system was showing 17gigs less free than I had when defrag started. I rebooted to no effect. It took about ten minutes for the system to recognise the space that I knew should have been available. Not impressed. I've downloaded a new defrag program (PerfectDisk) and will try that out next time rather than rely on the vista inbuilt program. Vista really is a pile of piddle.
My batch processes that I was running on my old computer (on media files that I needed to be sorted out) also completed overnight. My old computer is very unstable, so this is the only thing I get it to do these days, but if you leave it alone to run batch processes that you're not in a hurry to get done then it only crashes once every other time.
