The census and religion
Apr. 16th, 2009 09:20 pmI know it's a bit early to be thinking about this (our next census should be in 2011) but one question they ask is if you are religious, and if yes then what religion do you follow. Last time I put down Jedi. This time I'm not sure. Pastafarianism is calling to me. I've caught myself saying 'thank the FSM' more than once, and while it doesn't yet compete with the standard wish of luck in my family ('may the force be with you'), it is slipping out more frequently. Are the census people really expecting people to have some kind of existential crisis in order to answer their questions? I would hope not.
Then again, there's always the fallback answer of 'none of your business', which I gave when asked by a researcher last week how much I earn.
No new Flashpoint tonight. Woe!
