I've just spent a couple of hours trying to watch telly and do net things without my glasses (left them upstairs and couldn't be bothered to go and fetch them). What did I learn? The world is fuzzy without my glasses and no amount of rapid blinking or rubbing my eyes will fix that. Damnit, the only real problem I used to have trying to read without my glasses was headaches. Now? Mucho blurriness. Piddle.

Also? I gave in and pre-ordered the Flashpoint series 1 DVDs - a month to wait. I really, really like this show. Really. Since I'm working from home this week the money I'm saving on trains is going on funzies instead - a good trade, no?

Yes, there are really interesting stories every week, and the amount of dialogue is phenomenal compared to your average cop show. I do wonder how long they can keep writing something interesting and new each week when the premise is something we've seen so often on telly (hostage taking), but so far it's been a very clear focus on people and their problems, and if they go on like that there's an unlimited set of possibilities.

The team stuff I love - they worry about each other, both around the dangers they're facing (being injured or having guns in their face) and each other's emotional wellbeing. There have been some really lovely emotional moments, most of them just natural and understated.

I think it's on the same day in the US and Canada, which is a Friday. Here it's on Thursday, and we're about 8 episodes behind you. The one you saw is series 2 but we're still on series 1 here.
