Hmm, I've not had problems with low energy bulbs at all and actually like the whiter light they give off. What make and wattage are you using?
I HAVE read that some don't last long though, maybe due to being badly made. Can't remember where I read that. I think you should complain if that happens. Keep the receipt for a while.
The only energy bulb I have a problem with is the one in the bathroom which is an older one and takes a minute to get to full brightness, but I'm too lazy to get the chair and the screwdriver and the claw-hammer to prize the glass shade off the ceiling and replace it. Putting it in the first time was a nightmare!
