Another lunatic gunman on the loose

The police are out in force once again, hunting through countryside and villages for a man who's shot several people. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/tyne/10523318.stm

There is currently a town cordoned off by police, everyone is being told to stay indoors, armed police are moving building to building and one person is dead (two others shot). The man has apparently 'declared war' on the police, has shot one police officer, and has promised to keep killing until he's dead. This man was released from prison on Thursday, and started killing on Friday night.

I don't know what brings people to this.

I'm more surprised that the people in charge don't recognize that such a person might start killing again as soon as he leaves prison... scary.

There are some worrying reports that the police had been told he'd do just this. I'm not sure how much we can expect police to take notice of those kinds of reports because they must hear the same thing day in and day out. But this bloke is still out there and hundreds of police officers are hunting for him.
